Freshworks Became an IT Services Play While the Market Prices a Helpdesk

The market is paying a going-out-of-business multiple for the half of Freshworks that is winning and a fair one for the half that is stalling.

On February 10, 2026, Freshworks told investors it expected 2026 revenue of $952–960 million, non-GAAP operating income of $181–189 million and adjusted earnings of $0.55–0.57 a share — the last of those below the $0.66 it had just booked for full-year 2025 . A mid-market software company guiding profits down in a year when the whole sector was being asked to prove AI would not eat its seat counts is a specific kind of offense. Shares that printed $10.66 in the week before the release were trading below $7.65 by the week ending February 20, and bottomed at $6.79 inside the following twelve months . That drawdown set up everything that has happened since.

Freshworks sells cloud service software to companies too complex for a point tool and too impatient for a six-figure implementation. The business comes in two halves. Freshservice, which the company labels EX, is IT and employee service management — the ticketing, asset tracking, incident response and HR-and-facilities workflows that run a company's internal operations. Freshdesk, labeled CX, is external customer service. Almost all revenue is subscription: of $237.4 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, professional services contributed $2.8 million . There are no reportable segments beyond that, and the balance sheet holds net cash and minimal borrowings.

The stock trades at about $14.99 intraday, against a 52-week range of $6.79 to $15.02 . The round trip is complete, and the obvious reading is that the opportunity has closed with it. The argument here is that the market has re-rated the price without re-rating the asset. It still values Freshworks as a single fifteen-percent grower when what it owns is a compounding IT service franchise bolted to a stagnant helpdesk — and the implied price of the compounding half assumes its growth is nearly over.

The guide that broke the stock is now 22% higher at the operating line

February's guide was not a demand warning. It was a margin and earnings guide, and management has since raised it hard. The August 4 release took full-year 2026 non-GAAP operating income to $222–228 million and adjusted EPS...
