Perpetua Resources’ principal competitive advantage is its 100% ownership of the Stibnite Gold Project in Idaho, which is the only known large-scale U.S. deposit of both gold and antimony. Antimony is a federally designated critical mineral with strategic importance for defense and energy storage; the U.S. currently imports over 90% of its antimony supply. This unique asset positions Perpetua as a potential sole domestic supplier, a status unmatched by North American peers such as Newmont, Barrick, or Hecla, none of which control significant antimony resources.

The project’s scale is also notable: Stibnite’s probable reserves total approximately 4.8 million ounces of gold and 106.5 million pounds of antimony, supporting a projected 15-year mine life with early-year average gold production of 463,000 ounces annually at an all-in sustaining cost of $435/oz (years 1–4, net of by-product credits). This cost profile is highly competitive versus U.S. gold producers, many of whom report AISC above $1,000/oz.

Perpetua’s environmental strategy—restoring a legacy brownfield site—may help secure permitting and community support, a frequent bottleneck for U.S. mining rivals. However, the company’s lack of operating history, single-asset risk, and dependence on successful project financing and permitting remain material disadvantages relative to established, diversified competitors.
