Unlike Starlink (SpaceX) and Globalstar, which require specialized hardware or focus on narrowband services, ASTS’s phased-array antenna and custom ASIC chip enable direct-to-device 4G/5G service at up to 120 Mbps per cell—an industry first.

The company’s intellectual property portfolio is extensive, with over 1,550 granted patents and more than 3,500 patent and patent-pending claims, providing a significant barrier to entry. Its vertically integrated manufacturing and control over 95% of satellite subsystems further reduce costs and supply chain risk, supporting rapid scaling.

ASTS’s commercial model is differentiated by deep partnerships with over 50 mobile network operators (MNOs), including AT&T, Vodafone, Verizon, and stc Group, collectively covering nearly 3 billion subscribers.
